About PinkDrive
PinkDrive NPC, a health sector NGO, was founded in 2009 by Ms. Noelene Kotschan, on the premise that “Early detection will help to prolong a life.” PinkDrive’s cardinal purpose is to contribute meaningfully towards preventing as many people as it can, from succumbing to breast, cervical, prostate and testicular cancer. It’s primary focus is on citizens without access to reasonable care for these conditions, and who reside in areas where health services do not reach.
It recognises that treatable cancers receiving even the basic levels of care, could translate into varying lengths of extended life for the afflicted, when detected and treated early. It’s posture is ostensibly a promoter of health awareness in general, and specifically health education and heightening awareness of gender-related cancers in South Africa.
Since its inception, PinkDrive has maintained a consistent record of clean annual financial audits, reflecting the organisation’s unwavering commitment to transparency, sound governance and responsible financial management. This long-standing achievement demonstrates PinkDrive’s dedication to ensuring that donor funding, sponsorships and public contributions are managed with the highest levels of accountability, giving partners, supporters and beneficiaries confidence that every contribution is used effectively to advance its life-saving mission.
In Loving Memory of Prof Elna McIntosh
Prof Elna was far more than a renowned gynaecologist and sexologist. She was a compassionate advocate for women’s health, a dedicated servant of her community, and a cherished member of the PinkDrive family.
For many years, she served on the PinkDrive Board, generously giving her time, expertise, and heart to our mission. Without hesitation, she would leave her private practice behind to travel with the PinkDrive team on long-distance outreaches, ensuring that women in underserved communities had access to life-saving education, support, and healthcare services.
Educating women and empowering them with knowledge about their health was not just her profession—it was her passion and life’s calling.
Prof Elna walked a path that few would choose, a road marked by uncertainty, pain, and immense courage. Yet she faced every challenge with quiet grace and unwavering determination. She met each new day with strength, dignity, and a spirit that inspired all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Cancer may have claimed her body, but it could never conquer her heart. She wore resilience like armour, and her hope became a light that guided and encouraged countless others through their own journeys.
Her legacy lives on in every life she touched, every woman she empowered, and every community she served.
On behalf of the entire PinkDrive family, we extend our deepest condolences to her family, friends, colleagues, and all who loved her. We pray for comfort and strength during this difficult time.
Prof Elna, thank you for your selfless service, your wisdom, your compassion, and the difference you made in so many lives.
You will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever celebrated.
Rest in peace, Prof Elna McIntosh.
